In this edition, I’m writing to you from vibrant Singapore, where I’m gearing up to speak at HashiDays Singapore tomorrow. It’s a special experience—being immersed in a lively city, surrounded by fellow builders, and sharing ideas in person.

But before stepping on stage, there’s a whole side to prepping for a talk that people rarely see. Between sightseeing, coffee shop pit stops, and catching up with friends, I’ve found myself rehearsing out loud in hotel rooms, tweaking slides at odd hours, and running through demos in local cafés while hoping the Wi-Fi holds up. It's equal parts excitement and nerves—double-checking every command, anticipating audience questions, and preparing for the inevitable live-demo curveballs.

What you see at the conference is just the tip of the iceberg. Behind the scenes, there’s a lot of trial and error, self-doubt, small victories when something finally clicks, and reminders to take a deep breath and enjoy the ride. The real magic happens before the lights go on: connecting with other speakers over shared stories, learning the quirks of new hardware setups, and having quiet moments that remind me why I love sharing knowledge.

Tomorrow, as I step up at HashiDays Singapore, I’ll carry all these behind-the-scenes moments with me—each one adding its own layer of meaning to the talk. If you’re reading this, know that every time you see someone present or share their work, there’s a journey of passion and preparation that brought them there.
